Cuttin' Grass - Vol. 1 (Butcher Shoppe Sessions) Tracklist:
This is just an amazing album. To re-design songs in a bluegrass format just shows how talented Sturg and the band really is. I enjoy his songs so much and for him to create a bluegrass album is just what my ears have been waiting for. I’ve been listening non stop to Cuttin’ Grass all this week and ordered the vinyl.
Sturgill is proving to be so amazing in his ability to confidently execute so many flavors of his country hearted music, he exemplifies what it means to be a virtuoso. This album is yet another exciting turn in his music, at once a new sound and a familiar Sturgill. Every track is excellent.
Bluegrass is back. Anybody rating less than 5 stars wouldn’t know good music if it smacked them in the head. This is a greatest hits bluegrass cover album. This is not Americana. These are not original. These are bluegrass covers. And they’re amazing.
I like Bluegrass but don’t love it but have to say THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME...one of the best in awhile. Have listened to it over and over for a day now and still love it. Great musicianship combined with great lyrics and sound. I find myself constantly tapping my feet. Thank god the music is digital or I may wear the CD out.
I met Sturgill outside the Ryman, this year in Nashville. Truly the real deal.. I hope he continues to make the music he’d like to hear in the world, regardless of genre. The changing of genres while still remaining one hundred percent Sturgill is the most disgustingly Impressive thing I’ve ever seen in music. Sturgill is top dawg over this generation of music.
I love Sturgill's music -- all of it. I prefer the original versions b/c I'm a person of habit, but I love these versions almost as much. And, who knows, I may come to love them more after a few more listens. You can really appreciate his amazing lyrics with these versions b/c everything is clear as a bell. I love Sturgill's honesty, authenticity, humor, and insight. He has always stayed true to himself, and I'm so glad this album is doing well b/c no one deserves the success more than him. Finally, I love how he promotes other artists (Margo, Tyler, etc.) and how he gives so much credit to the other players on this album, who, of course, deserve mucho kudos, as well.
Nothing makes me feel more like me and closer to God and the earth and stirs my soul more than this guys music!! Love it🙌🏻 I’m from a mountain town full of hard working loggers and he’s got it pegged
