Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent Tracklist:
I only knew of Lewis Capaldi from seeing him on Twitter as this big Scottish songwriter star, & somehow we don't really hear this music much in the US unless you're looking for it. The first time I heard "Someone You Loved" my friend had it on in her car (she has an amazing stereo anyway) & I was hooked. Lewis's voice is velvety, spine tingling perfection. Male singers usually have either a "pretty" crooner voice that can do a lot of falsetto (like in most R&B, pop bands like Cold Play, etc.) or a rugged, sexy deeper voice that can communicate a lot of emotion in a speaking cadence (like most rock & folk music, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder or Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas). But once every blue moon you hear a man who possesses both of those qualities, & they're world famous with enduring appeal that makes their songs popular across generations: Marvin Gaye, Bryan Adams, Ray Charles, U2's Bono, Elvis Presley, & more recently I'd say Imagine Dragons' frontman). Lewis Capaldi has that quality. It gives me chills hearing him sing effortlessly transitioning from a husky, strained spoken verse on to hit the high notes of a melodic chorus. This album has a beautiful, non-commercial feel which many sophisticated listeners will appreciate. It's great for relaxing or spending quality time with that special someone. The sentiments behind the songs are lovely, as well. This sounds a lot like a breakup album, focusing on lost love and heartache, but it has some songs that are more upbeat like Hollywood, which Lewis says he wrote while living in the LA, & of course "Someone You Loved" which is about lost family members. It's quite a heart-wrenching song, particularly considering it's climbing US alternative charts during a global pandemic. In summary, you'll enjoy this album if you like Lewis Capaldi's voice, so listen to the samples. I'd recommend picking up "Someone You Loved" & "Bruises" if you don't want to buy the whole album. I hope he branches out a bit in the future. Lewis has potential to be very famous even in the US markets if he is willing to work with different producers who would add more layers, instruments, etc., so that his songs gain mass appeal.
I heard “Someone You Loved” on the radio and I just had to hear more of you. I absolutely loved this album and I listen to it everyday. It has always been my dream to become an artist like you.
This guy is super successful!! 🤩 I AM NONSTOP SINGING GRACE, FOREVER, AND HOLLYWOOD FOR HOURS. I auditioned for this play The Wizard Of Oz, Georgina And The Dragon, and Beetlejuice. I audited with Grace for Wizard, Forever with Beetlejuice and Hollywood for Georgina. I listened to the lyrics of Grace and I cried before going on stage inspiring me while being Lion, King, and Beetlejuice. I went on stage and was a showstopper. I have these songs bought, recorded, DVD’ed, and put on my alarm. I never thought he would help me through all I was going through. My cousin had a panic attack lately because she forgot about college and she got scared. I sang her Forever and she hugged me and she was better. She is in college now and successful 🥇 🏆 I never thought that Lewis Capaldi would help me through the last 6 months. Thank you for everything 😊 ♥️ You are one of my heroes and life role models are is a big role model to many other 👦🏻 and 👧🏼 across the world.
Lewis is extremely talented. best album I’ve ever heard so raw. listen to this album at 2am in the dark, tucked under your blankets, with headphones jacked up louder than usual, close your eyes, and just listen to this incredible album. you will not regret it. you probably will cry , its incredible someone has the talent to make the listener feel such emotion. this album is the best album i’ve ever heard in my life lewis has so much talent. he deserves to be #1 on all charts throughout the world. everyone buy this album so we can make that happen !! love u lewis u sexy bastard
This album is by far one of the best albums I’ve heard in my entire life. Every song tells a different story. It’s absolutely beautiful and I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of listening to it. Seeing the songs live though is so much better. The vocals are incredible both live and not. Hearing a whole room singing songs I’ve been listening too for several months just fills me with the greatest amount of joy. Recently Lewis has been nominated for a Grammy and to say I’m proud would be an understatement. Your songs are incredible Lewis you deserve it so much. Xx
I’m addicted to this album. Every song is raw and emotional. His voice has this magnificent vulnerability. The lyrics just stick with you. You’ll be humming the melodies for days. Love the album, love the artist.
I can’t stop. This album. Before You Go has me singing nonstop, ignoring my children, shirking all my responsibilities, not going to sleep when I should, skipping meals, positive-swearing at the end of every freaking replay, driving erratically, pretending it is in fact me who is on tour, dancing whilst doing my food shop... Divinely Inspired to ruin my life. Thanks a lot, Capaldi.
Here I am. A 54 y/o lonely woman who found this album and I can’t have enough. Having an out of body experience. Haven’t bought a whole album since the days of CD’s.....Capaldi makes me bare my soul.
True story; I’m a telephone sales rep and I heard a snippet of his song “Someone You Loved” while I was on hold with a client and jotted down the sentence stuck in my head and looked it up later to find this beautiful and soulful album/person! Not only did that snippet reach my soul but so did the entire song when I heard it. You have an immeasurable amount of talent Lewis. I’m thankful you have chosen to share it with us as I can relate to so many if not all of your songs. Thank you!
this is probably my favorite album of all time. the lyrics are so poetic and beautiful. there is not one song on this album i do not adore! they’re all so beautifully written and sung! 🥰❤️
I went to his concert in Phoenix on September 28th even though he had a concert in my home town ( San Diego) the night before just to see him on my actual birthday. He was amazing! All of his songs helped me through my break up over a guy I dated for nearly two years. Lewis is special and I’m hoping for some new music in the near future :)
